The foundational concept for EPIC women came to me in a vision from the Lord a few years ago. In this vision, there was a group of many women who were supportive of one another through their personal trials and tribulations. As broken women became weary, the other women locked arms with others and they were holding the weary one’s arms up, like Aaron and Hur did for Moses.
When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. ~ Exodus 17:12
Holding each other accountable. Interceding for one another in times of great duress. Living an example of Christ to others. All from a spirit of servitude.
The Webster definition of EPIC is extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope.1 We, as women, are called to be EPIC. Not only is size and scope … but in these qualities denoted by the acronym of E.P.I.C.
Edify and Encourage
We edify with words. We encourage. We uplift. We assist others to keep their eyes on what is not seen, as opposed to what is seen.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Persevere
We are in it for the long haul. We endure. We persist. We persevere. We hold onto our faith like nobody’s business and endure until the very end. Whatever that end is. We will see it. Obtain the promises. Live victoriously in it. Experience a blessed life as your reward.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God,
you will receive what he has promised. ~ Hebrews 10:36Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test,
that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. ~ James 1:12
Intercede and Inspire
We lift each other up in prayer. Even when we do not know how or what to pray, the Holy Spirit guides and directs us.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. ~ Romans 8:26
Because of our perseverance, we inspire hope within others. Our faithfulness encourages a mindset of love.
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Thessalonians 1:3
Create the Character of God
We are created in the image of the Lord. He designed us to be like Him in every way. The way we act and speak. Our ministry and business. We are to exemplify His image. His nature. His heart. And then once we have mastered this, we are called to sow seeds into others. Be fruitful in His Image. Multiply it – in every way!
God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. ~ Genesis 1:27
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and subdue it. ~ Genesis 1:28
